PSN Donates Medicines And Food Items Worth Over N50 Million To Yobe State (IDPs)

The Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), established in 1927 in consonance with its philosophy of humanitarian gestures and Corporate Social Responsibility feels compelled to contribute and touch the lives of our Nigerian brothers and sisters wherever they are in the country, especially those in various IDPs camps.

In 2015, PSN donated drugs, food items  and clothes worth over N50 Million to Borno State Government for IDPs, recently in May 2017 donated Ceftriaxone Inj worth over N1 Million to Sokoto State Government for the Meningitis Outbreaks and today, Tuesday, 8th August 2017 donated drugs and food items worth over N50 Million in Damaturu, Yobe State for the IDPs.
A sense of responsibility demands that we must support our people in need and help the government in championing a whole new agenda to promote the welfare of the citizenry in Nigeria. Our professional pedigree and orientation makes it too obvious that availability and affordability of essential medicines in any health system confers credibility on same.

We care, we care about drugs effect on the body and we care about the effect of the body on the drugs- that is pharmacists for you!

The donation was formally handed over to the Chairman Task Force on IDPs and Returnees, Yobe State, His Excellency the Deputy Governor ably represented by the Hon. Commissioner of Health, Dr Mohammed A. Bello and supported by the Permanent Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency, Director of Pharmaceutical Services- Pharm. Maisule Kumsani, Director, Hospital Management Services and other top government officials. While assisting me in doing this onerous task was the Chairman of PSN, Yobe State, Secretary and other Executive Members including young Pharmacists-Corpers.

We thank God for making it possible to fulfill the promise made to the Acting President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, GCON, SAN during the 89th Annual National Conference in Minna (Power State 2016)

Thanks to all Nigerian Pharmacists for making this humanitarian gestures possible. I must appreciate the contributions of APIN under the leadership of Pharm (Sir) Nnamdi Obi, Board of Fellows, Pharmaceutical companies and indeed PSN IDPs committee.

Thank you the good people and PSN Yobe State for the warm welcome. Honestly, I left Damaturu with fondest memories.

Pharmacists are professionals with large hearts- thank you God for this gift of giving, not because we have abundance but because we care and ours is service to humanity.

Congratulations to all Pharmacists for this milestone!
